SMS heaps? Then chompSMS is for you: It's got a great user interface, chat style SMS bubbles, signatures and many other great features!
It's a free app and SMS are sent normally via your carrier tariff; or there's the *option* if you pay high SMS rates (e.g to overseas) to send them cheaper via the chompSMS network.

* You can now configure the Keyboard to automatically appear in the conversation screen, making it much easier to start typing a text message! (Settings, Misc). Remember you can hide the KB by pressing in the bubble area as well.
* When you receive a text message during a phone call, you can now opt to have your phone vibrate and ringtone played (Settings, Notifications).
* Added the ability to "Lock" a message, so that it does not accidentally get deleted (only Firmware 2.0 and above).
* New improved MMS image scaling. In addition you can nominate to (when possible) not scale your MMS images (Settings, MMS Network).
* Added a None option to the list of LED Blink Colors (Settings, Notifications).
* Added Spanish, Russian and Greek language support.
* Fixed trackball not flashing issue on HTC phones.
* Reorganized and improved Settings.
 

Install this apk as any other, but since it's a cracked version, you should first uninstall the old market version. Use the link in the Settings window to update.
